Gordon has 'unfinished business' at his final Slam Dunk Contest

Aaron Gordon put forth a performance for the ages in his epic head-to-head battle with Zach LaVine during the 2016 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He then followed that narrow loss with a giant dud last year in New Orleans, overcomplicating matters by using a drone.

On Feb. 17 at Staples Center, the Orlando Magic's aerial specialist is giving the Slam Dunk contest one final crack, despite saying he wouldn't take part following his failed attempt in 2017.

"Of course I feel like I have unfinished business. Regardless of what happens in L.A., that’ll be my business finished with the dunk contest," Gordon told The Orlando Sentinel's Josh Robbins.

He added: "The fact that it’s in L.A. - that’s really what made me want to do it: just to go back to California.

"It’s put on for people from California. I spent a lot of time growing up in L.A. I spent a lot of time growing up in the Bay (Area). So it’s going to be a lot of fun. It feels right."

While Gordon has some ideas stirring, the bottom line is that he needs to make his dunks count, because if he has a repeat performance, the fourth-year pro won't stand a chance against formidable competition.

"I’m just going to make some dunks this year," he added. "I’ve got a couple of things up my sleeve. I’ve got a couple of dunks in the bag. I always have some. I’m going to come out and show off my athleticism and show off my body control."

Joining Gordon in this year's contest will be Indiana Pacers All-Star Victor Oladipo, Dallas Mavericks rookie Dennis Smith Jr., and Los Angeles Lakers forward Larry Nance Jr.
