Report: Rutgers backs out of future 2-game series with UCLA

Noah K. Murray / USA TODAY Sports

Rutgers' future schedule got a little bit lighter on Thursday, as the school reportedly backed out of a previously arranged two-game series with UCLA that would have been played in 2020 and 2021, according to Bruce Feldman of Sports Illustrated.

UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero was made aware of the cancellation over email last Thursday, according to Feldman. As a penalty for calling the series off, Rutgers will be required to pay a $500,000 termination fee to UCLA within 30 days of the demand.

There is no word yet on scheduling replacements for either program.
