Report: Warriors could meet with LeBron in free agency

Brace yourselves.

The Golden State Warriors could position themselves to secure a free agency meeting with LeBron James this summer, league sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes.

Haynes reports that if the Warriors are able to clear the requisite max contract space, James would listen.

Clearing that space under the cap would not be an easy task for the Warriors. They have about $130 million in inclusive salary committed to players for next season, and simply moving out expiring contracts such as those of Zaza Pachulia and Nick Young would not be enough.

The Warriors would likely need to engage the Cavaliers in a sign-and-trade centered around Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala, according to ESPN's Kevin Pelton. On top of that, they would need Kevin Durant to decline his option for next season and sign for less money.

While a partnership may seem unlikely, the sheer nature of NBA business and James' reported penchant for well-structured organizations makes a meeting plausible.
