Having focused mainly on upgrading their pitching staff this offseason, the Colorado Rockies are reportedly keen to add another bat.

As spring training looms, the club is thought to be looking at bringing back outfielder Carlos Gonzalez or first baseman Mark Reynolds, or signing third baseman Todd Frazier, according to MLB.com's Thomas Harding.

Though the Rockies have several intriguing internal options to fill out their outfield in 2018 - along with veterans Gerardo Parra and Ian Desmond, David Dahl, Raimel Tapia, and Mike Tauchman are poised to compete for at-bats in the two vacant corner spots - re-signing Gonzalez would allow the club to give some of its youngsters more seasoning in the minors while also enabling manager Bud Black to use Desmond all over the diamond.

Considering how badly he struggled in 2017, Gonzalez - who spent the last nine years with Colorado - should come relatively cheap. He was one of the worst qualified hitters in the majors last year, managing -0.2 WAR while putting up a .762 OPS (84 wRC+) with 14 home runs in 136 games.

Meanwhile, Reynolds remains a candidate to reprise his role as the Rockies' primary first baseman following his solid showing in 2017, and though Frazier has little experience at the position - the two-time All-Star logged just 11 games at first over the last three seasons - he's an option, too.

In 2017, after signing a minor-league contract with Colorado in February, Reynolds managed an .839 OPS (104 wRC+) - his best since 2012 - while smacking 30 homers in 148 games. Frazier enjoyed another strong season split between the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees, accruing 3.0 WAR while recording a .772 OPS (108 wRC+) and 27 homers in 147 contests.
