Manu Ginobili is a man of the people.

The San Antonio Spurs veteran finished second in All-Star fan votes among Western Conference guards.

PLAYER TEAM FAN VOTES
Stephen Curry Golden State Warriors 2.38M
Manu Ginobili San Antonio Spurs 1.81M
James Harden Houston Rockets 1.49M
Russell Westbrook Oklahoma City Thunder 1.24M
Klay Thompson Golden State Warriors 1.24M

If this was 2015-16 or earlier, Ginobili would be an All-Star Game starter for the first time in his career at the age of 40. However, beginning last season, the NBA changed the selection process for ASG starters. Fan votes account for 50 percent, while media and players each get a quarter of the pie.

This is why James Harden will start, and Ginobili more than likely won't be in the showcase.

Ginobili has been named an All-Star twice in his 16-year career. He's averaging 9.1 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds in 20.5 minutes off the bench this season for the No. 3 Spurs.

The Argentinian shooting guard also racked up more fan votes than Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Jimmy Butler, Devin Booker, and Lonzo Ball thanks in part to a boost from his fellow countryman and Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
