Watch: 13-year-old girl ties national record with 17 3-pointers in game
Jaden Newman already has some big accomplishments under her belt at the age of 13.
Newman, who plays basketball at Downey Christian School in Orlando, Fla., once beat Stephen Curry in a 3-point contest, became the youngest player to reach 1,000 points at the high school level, and has now tied a national record for most 3-pointers in a single game with 17.
The 5-foot-1 prodigy achieved the mark Tuesday while dropping 70 points in a 115-31 victory over Discovery High School (Alfred, Fla.), according to D'Arcy Maine of ESPNW.com.
"Right when the game started, I knew I was in the zone," Newman said. "Right off the bat, to start the game, I made an and-one 3. That was the first play of the game. That built my confidence, and I knew I should just keep shooting.
"I felt like I couldn't miss. I just kept making everything."
