The New Orleans Pelicans are signing free-agent point guard Mike James to a two-way contract, sources told Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania.

Having made 32 appearances for the lowly Phoenix Suns earlier this season, James' remaining two-way days, according to Charania, will take him past February's trade deadline and through the All-Star break with the Pelicans.

Players on two-way deals can spend 45 days in the NBA, but must play the remainder of the season in the G League.

James averaged 10.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 20.9 minutes across 32 appearances for the Suns, who inexplicably waived him two weeks after converting his contract to a one-year, regular-season deal in December.
