Sonnen-Rampage to headline Bellator 192, not Lima-MacDonald
For Bellator, star power trumps a title fight, at least when it comes to the upcoming Bellator 192 event on Jan. 20.
Chael Sonnen versus Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will act as the event headliner, with the title fight between Douglas Lima and Rory MacDonald pegged as the co-headliner, Bellator president Scott Coker told Steve Muehlhausen of Sporting News.
Sonnen-Jackson will be the last fight, but Bellator considers it a double main event, spokesperson C.J. Tuttle told MMA Fighting's Marc Raimondi.
While the first-round match of the Bellator World Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament is a huge draw, it's still a questionable decision to favor it over a fight between one of the promotion's top champions - Lima - and one of MMA's most exciting fighters - MacDonald.
