Report: Arizona offers head coaching job to Navy's Ken Niumatalolo
Arizona appears to have found the man it wants as its next head coach.
The university has reportedly offered its vacant position to current Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo, according to Michael Lev of The Arizona Daily Star, citing a source close to the situation. Niumatalolo was reportedly the favorite to land the job following a final round of interviews, according to Lev.
Despite having no coaching experience in the Pac-12, Niumatalolo would bring a wealth of expertise to the Wildcats, a program in need of change following the dismissal of former head coach Rich Rodriguez. Rodriguez was relieved of his duties after a sexual harassment claim was filed against him by a former athletic department assistant.
In 11 seasons as head coach at Navy, Niumatalolo has guided the Midshipmen to an overall record of 84-48, including a 5-5 mark in bowl games over that span.
