Everton will test Arsenal's resolve with a £20-million bid for winger Theo Walcott, according to The Telegraph's Matt Law.

Not only are the Toffees prepared to match Walcott's hefty £110,000-a-week salary, they would offer the player a chance to reclaim a spot in Gareth Southgate's 2018 World Cup squad.

Walcott has made just five Premier League appearances this season - all of them as a substitute - leading many to believe his 12-year association with the Gunners is coming to an end. He has also attracted interest from former club Southampton, boasting a sizable transfer kitty following the sale of Virgil van Dijk for £75 million.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly wary of selling Walcott in the same window as Alexis Sanchez - a prospect which would leave the Frenchman with Alexandre Lacazette, Olivier Giroud, Alex Iwobi, Danny Welbeck, and Chuba Akpom in attack. Giroud is currently recovering from a hamstring injury, Welbeck has struggled to stay fit, and Akpom has yet to start a Premier League match.

Everton has already recruited Turkish striker Cenk Tosun this month in an effort to reverse the club's ineffectiveness in front of goal. Walcott would give Sam Allardyce another pacy winger to pair with Yannick Bolasie, who has finally returned to action after nearly a year out with a knee injury.
