Durant becomes 2nd-youngest player to score 20K points

Kevin Durant continues to prove he's worthy of being "in the room" with the greatest players of all time.

The Golden State Warriors forward became the second-youngest player in NBA history to rack up 20,000 points with his 25th point in the first half Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers.

After crossing up Montrezl Harrell and drilling the jumper, Durant received a standing ovation from his team and the crowd at Oracle Arena.

At 29 years and 103 days old, the reigning Finals MVP took longer than only LeBron James to accomplish the feat; the Cleveland Cavaliers icon did it in 2013 when he was 28 years and 17 days old. Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kobe Bryant are the only other players to reach the milestone before turning 30.

Durant, a four-time scoring champion, entered Wednesday's contest averaging 25.9 points on a true shooting percentage of 61.7 to go along with 7.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and a league-leading 2.3 blocks per contest for the No. 1-seeded Warriors this season. He missed the previous three games due to a calf injury, and was slated to play on a minutes restriction against the Clippers.

Despite being limited, the stage appeared to be set for Durant's offensive outburst and historic night, given the absence of Stephen Curry (ankle) and Klay Thompson (rest).
