Burnley sealed its first signing of the January transfer window.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou winged in to Turf Moor on Tuesday, after Burnley signed the French winger on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of the season. According to the Guardian's Ed Aarons, Sean Dyche and AS Saint-Etienne showed interest in signing the product of FC Nantes on a permanent basis, but Mauricio Pochettino wanted to retain the footballer.

"When I spoke with (Tottenham's Kieran) Trippier, he told me good things about this club, about the players and everything about Burnley," Nkoudou said. "I am happy to be here, so thank you Trippier."

"I think it's a big opportunity to play my first minutes this season in the Premier League," he added. "Everyone is shocked because Burnley is just after the big six. They have played very well.

"I watched the last game against Liverpool when they played very well and were unlucky. That's why I have come here, to find football. I knew he (Dyche) is a big manager who likes young players and players who go forward, so it suits my character to come here and I am happy to work with him. I hope to help the club. If I can, I will. But the last word is with the manager. If he puts me on the pitch I will do everything to help the team go forward. I am ready to play and waiting on the starting blocks. If the manager puts me on the pitch I will do everything on the pitch."

Nkoudou sealed a transfer to Tottenham from Olympique Marseille in 2016 for a reported fee of around £9.4 million. He signed a five-year contract, reportedly putting pen to paper more than 40 days after passing a medical, as Daniel Levy, Spurs' chairman, attempted to restructure the deal.

Nkodou is yet to make a Premier League appearance this season and yet to start a league game since arriving at Tottenham.
