5 best flows from the Champions League semi-finals

Aesthetics have long been a part of football. Playing the right way has always been considered a virtue.

And now, it's just as important to look the part.

Eccentric hairstyles accompany flashy getups and gaudy rides. Players like Paul Pogba attract all kinds of attention as more than just footballers. They're fashion icons, too.

There's no Super Saiyan mohawk on display in the Champions League semi-finals this season, but there are still plenty of slick 'dos that make the cut:

Loris Karius (Liverpool)

GQ Magazine believes Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius could be mistaken for a male model - such is his immaculate sense of style. His hair used to run shorter, but he's been content to let it grow out. We're not quite sure what he's trying to pull off, though. It's some kind of samurai look. There's a man bun that's not quite a man bun. It's a little confusing, but he's got enough hair to make us jealous.

Marcelo (Real Madrid)

The closest modern-day replica of Carlos Valderrama's iconic afro, Marcelo's frills are a strong contender for the best in the game. He's maintained the look for a few years now, and it's never let us down.

James Rodriguez (Bayern Munich)

Cool and slick - just as James Rodriguez plays. He went full blond for a period of time, but thankfully, it's been downgraded to highlights. James is in great form right now, in all aspects of the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)

Cristiano Ronaldo is a staple on lists like this. He's gone a little bit blond as well, and it's a bit more casual than his usually gelled hair. It's a little NSYNC, and we're all for it. It's certainly a massive improvement over the buzz cut he received after last season's Champions League win.

Stephan El Shaarawy (Roma)

No one can really imagine Stephan El Shaarawy without his trademark mohawk. It's a lot tamer and less spiky than it was in his late teens and early 20s, but it's still super recognisable.
