Justin Thomas will have one of the best on the golf bag next week at the Sony Open.

Jim "Bones" Mackay will loop for the world No. 3 golfer in Honolulu, marking the first time Mackay will don a caddie bib since parting ways with Phil Mickelson last June.

Thomas' regular caddie, Jimmy Johnson, was unable to work Saturday at the Sentry Tournament of Champions due to a foot injury he suffered last October at the CIMB Classic. The 24-year-old's father, Mike, filled in for the third round en route to a 2-over-par 75, and will do the same on Sunday.

"Obviously this isn't a great place to walk when you've been in a boot for a while," Thomas told Rex Hoggard of the Golf Channel. "He thought he could go and he went the first two days and he was just a little slower walking. I told him, 'Look I'd rather you take as much time as you need to get it better and make sure that you’re fresh come L.A., Match Play, Masters, whatever it is, I want him to be 100 percent again."

The reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year is the defending Sony Open champion and set the lowest 72-hole scoring record in 2017.

Mackay was Mickelson's caddie for 25 years, where the pair won 41 PGA Tour events, including five major titles.
