Brown would entertain ending 'semi-retirement' to fight Condit

If Matt Brown reneges on his retirement plans, he'll do it in order to square off with another beloved purveyor of violence.

The fan favorite remains undecided about retirement after elbowing Diego Sanchez into oblivion in what he'd previously dubbed his swan song at UFC Fight Night 120 in November. However, he told the "Fight Society" podcast that he'd get back in the saddle for a date with Carlos Condit.

"Maybe it's time for me and him to lock horns," Brown said Wednesday. "I'd love to. I've got so much respect for him. Of course, I would love to. Everybody would want to see that fight. It was supposed to happen before. We'll see what happens ... I think that's definitely one people would want to see no matter what. It would be a fight for the ages, and that would certainly be a fight that would make me want to come out of semi-retirement.

"I haven't made any decisions on anything. That would be one that would probably wake me up and get me out of bed."

The entertaining welterweights were scheduled to tangle in December 2013 at UFC on FOX 9, only for Brown to withdraw at the 11th hour with a back injury. Brown was riding a six-fight win streak at the time, while Condit was fresh off a Fight of the Night victory over Martin Kampmann. The Ws have been hard to come by since; Brown's taken just two of his last seven and Condit's dropped four of five since evening the score with Kampmann.

The 33-year-old Condit most recently ended a 16-month layoff with a unanimous decision loss to Neil Magny at UFC 219.
