Boras: Hosmer's reported offers from Royals, Padres 'inaccurate'

While a report surfaced Wednesday that Eric Hosmer was mulling a $147-million offer from the Kansas City Royals, his agent begs to differ. At least, in some capacity.

Scott Boras said the report regarding Hosmer's tabled offer from his former team, which originated from Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports, was "inaccurate" in an interview with Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

News of the Royals offering Hosmer a seven-year, $147-million offer came one day after the San Diego Padres reportedly made a $140-million offer of their own, also according to Nightengale.

According to Nightengale's sources, the term of the Padres' and Royals' proposals were confirmed, though it was not divulged whether the deals included options or opt-outs.

While Boras labeled the reports as incorrect, the agent wouldn't elaborate further on which parts of the report were imprecise.

The 28-year-old Hosmer has spent the duration of his career with the Royals after getting drafted by Kansas City in the first round of the 2008 draft. Over seven seasons, Hosmer has posted a .284/.342/.439 slash line with 127 home runs and 60 stolen bases.
