The University of Arizona may be looking to make a significant change to its football program. The school is reportedly discussing the possibility of firing head coach Rich Rodriguez, according to Dan Wolken of USA TODAY Sports, citing two people with knowledge of the situation.

A decision on whether or not to retain Rodriguez could come soon, according to Wolken. Rodriguez's existing contract runs through May 31, 2020, and the 54-year-old would receive his full $6.3-million buyout if he is dismissed without cause.

Rodriguez was previously targeted in a probe for potential workplace misconduct last fall by an outside law firm, but cooperated fully, and no misconduct was found. A former administrative assistant has now threatened to file a lawsuit against Rodriguez, and, according to Wolken, Arizona officials expect that lawsuit to be filed this week.

It was also reported that a Notice of Claim against Rodriguez was filed with the Attorney General office last week, according to Greg Hansen of The Arizona Daily Star, and that it was a sexual harassment and hostile workplace claim.

If Rodriguez is fired with cause, he would stand to lose at least $10.2 million, including more than $3 million owed to him if he were to remain Arizona's head coach on March 15.

Arizona is coming off a 7-6 season, but finished the campaign on a sour note after losing to Purdue in this year's Foster Farms Bowl. Rodriguez has led the Wildcats to an overall record of 43-35 after taking over the job in 2012.
