Music City Bowl referee explains decision to eject Kentucky's Snell

Kentucky lost one of its star offensive pieces during the Music City Bowl when running back Benny Snell Jr. was ejected for making contact with an official. We now have an explanation as to why that happened.

Referee Chris Coyte addressed the issue surrounding his ejection of Snell following Friday's game against Northwestern, stating he was simply following protocol.

"The player got up and grabbed my arms and pushed them away and contacted me. That's a foul," Coyte said, according to Adam Sparks of The Tennessean.

The ejection took place in the second quarter with Kentucky trailing 10-7. Northwestern would never relinquish the lead on the way to taking the battle of the Wildcats by a score of 24-23. Prior to the ejection, Snell had rushed for 15 yards and a touchdown on six carries.
