It doesn't look like Texas will have Big 12 co-defensive player of the year Malik Jefferson in the lineup for its bowl matchup with Missouri, as head coach Tom Herman told Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News that the linebacker is expected to miss the game due to a toe injury.

Still, Herman admitted he's hoping for a miracle that would see the star back in the fold for Wednesday's Texas Bowl against the Tigers.

Texas is already shorthanded for the contest with safety DeShon Elliott and offensive tackle Connor Williams sitting out to prepare for the NFL draft.

Jefferson piled up a whopping 110 tackles and four sacks in a standout season for the Longhorns. He's undecided on whether he will return to Texas for next season or enter the NFL draft.
