It doesn't look as though Tony Pulis will be out of work for long.

Just over two months after being relieved of his duties at West Bromwich Albion, Pulis is expected to put pen to paper on a three-year contract to become Middlesbrough's new manager, according to the Guardian's Louise Taylor.

The 59-year-old succeeds Garry Monk, who was sacked after Saturday's loss at Sheffield Wednesday.

Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson invested heavily in the squad last summer with the aim of immediate promotion following the team's relegation to the Championship last term.

However, Gibson's investment has yet to yield the desired results as Boro sit in ninth place with 35 points after 23 matches.

If all goes to plan, Pulis is reportedly expected to be on the touchline when Middlesbrough clashes with Bolton Wanderers on Boxing Day.
