Florida State has provided proof that the school is officially eligible for the Independence Bowl next week against Southern Mississippi after media reports questioned the Seminoles earlier in the week.

Users on College Football Reddit called the Seminoles' win over Delaware State earlier in the season into question, claiming that their FCS opponent didn't meet the necessary scholarship requirements to count as a bowl-eligible win.

After an investigation, the school confirmed Friday that Delaware State had indeed reached the scholarship mark, making the Seminoles eligible for postseason play.

If that win didn't count, Florida State would be left with only five bowl-eligible wins, a situation that should have kept the team out of postseason play. Instead, it will close out the season in the school's second game since head coach Jimbo Fisher left for Texas A&M.
