Starlin Castro's tenure with the Miami Marlins could be short-lived.

The Marlins are reportedly reluctant to move outfielder Christian Yelich or catcher J.T. Realmuto, both of whom have expressed disappointment with the team's direction of late. Instead, Miami is trying to "attach" Castro to trade talks in an effort to move him, according to FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman.

Whether this means the Marlins will soften their stance on trading one of their more-coveted pieces if a team agrees to take Castro in the deal is unclear.

Castro was acquired in the blockbuster trade that sent outfielder Giancarlo Stanton to the New York Yankees just before the winter meetings.

The 27-year-old middle infielder hit .300/.338/.454 with 16 home runs and 63 RBIs in 112 games in 2017, his second season with the Yankees. He has two years and $21 million remaining on his contract plus a $16-million club option for 2020.
