Five-star recruit Jackson Carman signed with Clemson over Ohio State on Wednesday, in part because Dabo Swinney told him during his recruitment that Urban Meyer is on the back end of his career with the Buckeyes.

"It wasn't a major factor, but it was an underlying one," Carman told Ari Wasserman of The Athletic.

Carman represents a huge recruiting haul for Swinney and the Tigers, who successfully lured the nation's top-ranked offensive tackle prospect out of Fairfield, Ohio.

When asked about the specific conversation, Swinney told Andy Staples of Sports Illustrated he couldn't recall exactly what he said to Carman about his Buckeyes counterpart.

Carman was the third five-star recruit to sign a letter of intent with Clemson, joining quarterback Trevor Lawrence and defensive end Xavier Thomas.
