No. 7 overall recruit Parsons to sign with Penn State

Rich Barnes / USA TODAY Sports

Five-star defensive end Micah Parsons, the No. 7 overall prospect on the ESPN 300, announced Wednesday he will sign with Penn State.

A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Parsons chose to keep his talents in the state, passing on scholarship offers from Oklahoma, Georgia, and Nebraska. He took an official visit to Ohio State early in the season, but the Buckeyes stopped recruiting him after self-reporting a violation that occurred while he was on campus.

At 6-foot-3 and 241 pounds, Parsons is physically ready to step onto the field immediately for the Nittany Lions, but will need to earn playing time on a defensive line rich with veterans.

Parsons is the second five-star prospect to join James Franklin's 2018 recruiting class, joining top wide receiver Justin Shorter.
