Christian Pulisic was voted the 2017 United States Soccer Male Player of the Year on Thursday after collecting 94 percent of the tabulated votes.

The 19-year-old is the youngest player to win the award since its inception 34 years ago.

"It really is a big honor and I just want to thank everyone who voted for me to win U.S. Male Player of the Year," the Borussia Dortmund midfielder said. "It’s something that I never could have imagined to be here in this position. I’m thankful for everyone who supported me and I’m excited for the future."

Landon Donovan previously held the record as the youngest player to win the award when he was United States Soccer Male Player of the Year at the age of 21 in 2003.

Along with emerging as an integral part of the U.S. men's national team, Pulisic has become a regular for Dortmund after accumulating three goals and three assists in 25 appearances during his first full season with the Bundesliga team.
