Arsenal can expect a call from West Ham in January regarding the availability of Jack Wilshere.

The English midfielder has struggled to break into Arsene Wenger's team this term, with the Arsenal manager preferring to include Wilshere - who spent last season on loan with Bournemouth - in domestic cup and Europa League matches.

However, Wilshere is thought to be eager to feature regularly in the Premier League in a bid to regain his place in the English national team ahead of the 2018 World Cup next summer.

And West Ham manager David Moyes revealed that Wilshere fits the profile of a player whom the struggling Premier League side will look to during the winter transfer window.

"You'd hope that if you took a player from another Premier League club it'd be much easier for him to go right into the team and play well," Moyes said, according to the Guardian's Paul MacInnes, ahead of West Ham's encounter with Arsenal on Wednesday. "Jack Wilshere would be someone who we'd have to look at if he was available.

"I do believe the transfer window could be the difference between relegation and staying up. If we can get the right players, that’s the big part of it.

"I also want to make sure we're looking at players who’ve got time and who can be at the club for a long period and not just in for a short period. Then there's also the short-term fix for me which is, how do we get enough wins between now and the end of the season? There's a balance between that."

Wilshere, who's been affiliated with Arsenal since 2001 when he was 9 years old, has yet to be offered a new contract as he enters the final six months of his current deal.
