Bob Bradley has his first central defensive signing at Los Angeles FC, as the expansion club announced Sunday the acquisition of Walker Zimmerman from FC Dallas in exchange for $250,000 in General Allocation Money, $250,000 in Targeted Allocation Money, and the top spot in the MLS allocation ranking.

FC Dallas also acquired LAFC's No. 11 spot in the MLS allocation rankings.

The five-year Dallas veteran fell down the pecking order in Oscar Pareja's side this season after straining his MCL, starting just 18 matches in 2017 compared to 30 last year. He was dropped for Dallas' last five games of the season but goes to newcomers LAFC with 95 league appearances and seven goals.

"Walker is a talented young defender who will play an important role in our team," LAFC head coach Bradley said. "He's a strong defender and a good passer out of the back. I love his mentality and want to see him develop into a real leader."

Zimmerman becomes the third player to sign for LAFC ahead of its inaugural 2018 campaign, joining Mexican star forward Carlos Vela and Egyptian full-back Omar Gaber.

Zimmerman said of his move: "There is something special about being a part of this project from season one. I look forward to helping create a winning culture at LAFC and setting high expectations within our locker room. I can't wait to represent the Black and Gold and compete every day for the city of Los Angeles."

I’m looking forward to calling LA home. Can’t wait to suit up for the black and gold! @lafc #mls2018 #lafc @lafc3252
