He was the only choice.
Toronto FC's Jozy Altidore, who slotted home the match-winning goal in Saturday's 2-0 MLS Cup victory over the Seattle Sounders, was named MVP of the showpiece contest.
The 28-year-old American striker, who fought through an ankle problem suffered in the second leg of the Eastern Conference final against Columbus - another match in which he scored the decisive tally - beat Stefan Frei in the 67th minute of Saturday's one-sided contest at BMO Field, helping TFC complete a historic treble-winning season.
