Report: White Sox unlikely to trade Abreu
The fire sale might be on hold in Chicago, for now.
The Chicago White Sox, in the midst of a top-to-bottom rebuild, are reportedly not on the verge of trading Jose Abreu and are unlikely to deal him this offseason, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
There was some traction on a rumored deal with the Boston Red Sox earlier in the offseason, but nothing materialized.

Abreu, 30, is entering his second year of arbitration and remains under team control until 2020. The infielder is one of several Cuban-born players in the team's system, including outfielder Luis Robert and top prospect Yoan Moncada, who the team acquired last offseason from the Red Sox in the Chris Sale trade.
In four major-league seasons, Abreu has hit .301/.359/.524 with 144 doubles and 124 home runs over 614 games. He won the AL Rookie of the Year award in 2014 while finishing fourth in MVP voting. He led all AL first basemen in OPS (.906), doubles (43), and triples (six) in 2017.
For now, fans should expect him to don White Sox pinstripes on Opening Day.
