Magic's Fournier diagnosed with ankle sprain; X-rays negative

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

Orlando Magic shooting guard Evan Fournier sprained his ankle Wednesday night, but appears to have dodged a more serious injury.

"The X-rays are negative," Magic coach Frank Vogel said after the matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, via FOX Sports Florida. "It's just a sprained ankle, so hopefully he's back pretty quickly."

Fournier exited in overtime after landing awkwardly on teammate Nikola Vucevic's foot and did not return.

The Magic ended up winning 110-106 even without their high-scoring guard available down the stretch. Fournier still finished with a game-high 27 points on 12-of-21 shooting.

The Magic have a day off Thursday, with Fournier's old team, the Denver Nuggets, coming to town Friday evening.
