Mayfield, Love, Jackson named Heisman Trophy finalists
Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Stanford running back Bryce Love, and Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson were named finalists for the Heisman Trophy.
The award will be handed out Dec. 9 at the trophy presentation in New York City.

Baker Mayfield
Mayfield posted 4,340 passing yards for the Sooners, the second-highest total in the country. He tossed 41 touchdowns and only five interceptions. The senior finished fourth in Heisman voting two years ago, and third last year. He's the front-runner for the award, though his fiery personality has gotten him in trouble at times and could be a drawback for some voters.
Bryce Love
Love had no problem filling the huge shoes left behind at Stanford by Christian McCaffrey, as the junior nearly hit the 2,000-yard mark in rushing despite missing a game and being hindered in several others by a nagging ankle injury. Love finished the season ranked second nationwide in rushing with 1,973 yards, and found the end zone 17 times.
Lamar Jackson
Jackson is the reigning Heisman winner, and while he'll be in tough to repeat, he spent the 2017 season building himself a strong case. The Pompano Beach, Fla., native threw for 3,489 yards with 25 touchdowns and six interceptions as a junior, and rushed for 1,443 yards and 17 additional scores. He improved his completion percentage and yards per rush from a year ago.
