Mark Dantonio insisted he's not upset with No. 16 Michigan State receiving a bid to the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 28, but the veteran coach didn't exactly seem thrilled with the spot either.

"Life's about how you handle disappointments," he told reporters Sunday, according to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press. "I would not say going to the Holiday Bowl is a disappointment."

The Spartans will take a 9-3 record to San Diego, Calif., for the postseason affair, where they'll meet No. 18 Washington State.

Meanwhile, bitter rival Michigan - which finished the regular season unranked with an 8-4 record and lost to Michigan State during the year - obtained a berth in the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day.

"The records are what they are," said Dantonio, who added that he'd prefer to play on Jan. 1. "I'll just continue to continue to focus on beating Michigan."
