White: 'I wouldn't want to see' Rousey come back

Mark J. Rebilas / USA TODAY

Dana White would rather see Ronda Rousey living a civilian life than return to the cage.

The former women's bantamweight champion has all but retired since losing to Amanda Nunes in 48 seconds at UFC 207 in December in her return from a 13-month layoff, and as White told the media Tuesday in Las Vegas, he'd rather she stay that way.

"I wouldn’t want to see it," White said, per MMA Fighting's Marc Raimondi. "I wouldn’t want it to happen. I care about her. She’s got enough money. She’s got enough money and all that stuff. I don’t want to see it happen. It’s like Chuck Liddell. I was hearing that Chuck was talking about fighting again. I hope that’s not true."

Since suffering her second straight KO at Nunes' hands, Rousey has tied the knot with longtime UFC heavyweight Travis Browne and been attached to a WWE foray, and to hear White tell it, she's enjoying life after cagefighting.

"She’s super happy. She’s traveling, she’s hanging out, she’s doing her thing. Imagine never having a personal life and then you get one."

That being said, White maintains Rousey hasn't formally retired, with the USADA "still popping up at her house and testing her," although the anti-doping agency has yet to screen her in 2017, according to its official database.

As for why she hasn't called it a career, the UFC boss remains as clueless as the rest of us.

"She’s not ready to say I quit. She’s not ready to say I’m done, for whatever reason. She doesn’t tick like everybody else ticks. We found that out throughout the years ... She has this awesome personal life, she’s super happy and why put up with that aggravation anymore? Just announce it and the USADA stuff stops."
