Texas Tech AD confirms Kingsbury will return in 2018

In a week when the coaching carousel is moving as fast as ever, one program is standing pat with its bench boss.

Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt announced Saturday that head coach Kliff Kingsbury will return to the team in 2018, less than 24 hours after the Red Raiders earned a 27-23 win over in-state rival Texas, according to Jake Trotter of ESPN.

"Kliff has led the program the right way," Hocutt said. "We're not where we want to be, but we're not far off."

Saturday's win cements Texas Tech's status as bowl-eligible, and brings Kingsbury's overall record with the Red Raiders to 30-32 over five seasons.
