Mullen: 'I plan on' being Mississippi State's HC next year

Mississippi State's regular season came to an end Thursday with a disappointing loss to Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl, and with it came speculation that Dan Mullen had coached his last game for the Bulldogs.

The 2014 SEC Coach of the Year has been mentioned in rumors for virtually every major opening in the country this season. However, when asked about the possibility of leaving Mississippi State, he offered a response that should make Bulldog fans happy.

"I plan on it," Mullen replied after the contest. "I'm very happy here, I'm happy with what we've built. I have a great president, a great administration. You look at our fan base that we have here, look at the program that we've built. I think that's pretty special."

Tennessee is certainly expected to inquire about Mullen's interest in a move to the SEC East, and his ties to Florida and its athletic director, Scott Stricklin, could make that school a viable option as well. Mullen served as the Gators' offensive coordinator prior to taking the Mississippi State job, and was hired by Stricklin when the latter was the athletic director with the Bulldogs.
