Sumlin responds to report he'll be fired: 'I hadn't heard that'

Kevin Sumlin said Wednesday he hasn't been told by Texas A&M brass that he'll be dismissed as head coach at the end of the regular season.

A report surfaced Tuesday that the Aggies have decided to fire the sixth-year boss, and will announce the move shortly after Saturday's finale versus LSU.

"I hadn't heard that," Sumlin told reporters when asked about the report, according to Sam Khan Jr. of ESPN.

Sumlin has been on the hot seat all year, and is 7-4 heading into what may be his final game in charge of Texas A&M. The Aggies haven't won more than eight games since the 2013 season, despite Sumlin continually bringing in elite acclaimed recruiting classes.

"It's not like we haven't dealt with this since the spring," Sumlin said of his rumored job status.

"I think our team has done a really, really nice job of focusing on games at hand," he added. "And we'll continue to do that. Certainly, we've had that experience since the beginning of the year."
