The NBA announced that Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan and Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns have been named the Players of the Week for Week 5.

DeRozan's Raptors went 4-0, including big road wins at Houston and New Orleans, and a 23-point blowout of the Knicks at home. DeRozan averaged 26.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and six assists while shooting 56.6 percent from the field over that span.

Meanwhile, Towns averaged 20.3 points, 12.3 rebound, and two assists while shooting 9-for-16 from 3-point territory. After a string of three straight double-digit victories, the Wolves lost a close battle with the upstart Pistons on Sunday night, their lone loss of the week. Towns averaged just under 40 minutes per game in the four appearances.

This is DeRozan's sixth Player of the Week award for this career, and the first since March 2017. This is Towns' third Player of the Week honor; he also last earned the distinction in March this year.
