Kiffin welcomes ex-Yankees skipper Girardi to practice as guest speaker
Being a professional or collegiate head coach requires some transferable skills not specific to any one sport, and Lane Kiffin made that abundantly clear when he welcomed former New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi to Florida Atlantic's practice field Wednesday.
Girardi imparted some wisdom on the 7-3 Owls during his time at practice, and one person that took his messages to heart was running back Devin Singletary, according to Chris Low of ESPN.
"What I took from him was, 'Humble yourself or the game will humble you,'" Singletary said. "What that means is (with) us having all this success right now, don't take none of this for granted ... 7-4 and 8-3 are two totally different feelings."
Singletary currently finds himself fifth in the nation with 1,360 rushing yards, and the Owls remain unbeaten in conference play with two remaining games against Florida International and Charlotte.
