There was plenty of drama this week in golf. A young Spaniard walked away with some serious hardware, a chip-in eagle snagged a tour card, and a controversial golfer was back at it on Twitter.

Here are this week's winners and losers from the world of golf:

Winners:

Dream season

Jon Rahm capped his freshman season by picking up the Sir Henry Cotton award as the European Tour's Rookie of the Year on Tuesday. Rahm wasn't a tour member when he started the season, but ended his campaign Sunday, claiming the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai with a bogey-free 67 for a one-shot victory.

"An incredible week," Rahm told europeantour.com. "I would not be more proud of what I've done this week."

Qualifying in style

Jazz Janewattananond earned his European Tour card this week in amazing fashion at Lumine Golf Club in Spain. The 21-year-old came to the 108th hole of the tournament needing an eagle at the par-5 18th to get inside the top 25 in order to qualify. Janewattananond not only got his eagle, but did it by chipping in from off the green to secure a job on the European Tour in 2018.

Losers:

Three-peat

With just seven holes remaining in the DP World Tour Championship, Justin Rose looked to be on his way to winning a third consecutive title and the European Tour's Race to Dubai. Rose, however, bogeyed three of the next five holes to hand the tournament over to Rahm, and the Order of Merit title to Tommy Fleetwood.

"I felt really calm about things, and good about things," Rose told europeantour.com. "It just shows ... it's a nightmare sometimes."

Returning to offend

A little over a week after reactivating his Twitter account, Grayson Murray took a serious shot at the players on the PGA Tour Champions, calling them irrelevant. On Tuesday, the 24-year-old apologized for his comments. "Regarding my tweet the other day. I want to apologize to the tour and the guys on the Champions Tour," Murray wrote on Twitter. "I have nothing but respect for the guys that paved my way to play this game. I'm sorry to everyone I disrespected and I take full responsibility for my actions."
