A Philadelphia man was arrested after allegedly stealing a jersey from a memorial for former All-Star pitcher Roy Halladay outside Citizens Bank Park on Thursday.

Other people around the memorial apparently noticed the suspect, and chased the man down before locating police.

The Philadelphia police department told CBS 3 Philadelphia that no charges were filed as nobody claimed ownership of the jersey alleged to be stolen. Instead, the unidentified suspect was released with a citation from police.

The memorial for Halladay, who became one of the more beloved players in Phillies history despite only spending four of his 16 big-league seasons with the club, was created by fans outside the Phillies' ballpark shortly after he was killed in a plane crash near his Florida home on Tuesday.

It was announced on Thursday by Halladay's family that a public celebration of his life will take place next Tuesday at the Phillies' spring training home in Clearwater, Fla.
