Morrison: Playing for Royals would be 'dream come true'

The Kansas City Royals' search to replace Eric Hosmer at first base might just have gotten a whole lot easier.

Free agent and Missouri native Logan Morrison said playing for the Royals "would be a dream come true," according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

The 30-year-old highlights a relatively deep free-agent class of first basemen that also includes Carlos Santana, Mitch Moreland, Yonder Alonso, and, of course, Hosmer.

If the Royals fail to re-sign Hosmer, who's all but guaranteed to be seeking a new deal in the range of $100 million-$150 million, Morrison would be an ideal fallback option.

"My dad taking me to Kauffman Stadium when I was little, that's kind of where I saw, for the first time, what I wanted to do in life. To be able to put that uniform every day would be a huge, huge accomplishment for me," Morrison added.

Thanks to his career year, the veteran is due for a significant raise after earning $2.5 million in 2017. He hit 38 home runs last season, sixth-most in the American League, and finished fourth among AL first basemen with 3.3 WAR, while coming second in ISO (.270).
