Roy Halladay dies in Florida plane crash

Two-time Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay died Tuesday after his small seaplane crashed in the Gulf of Mexico. He was 40.

Halladay was the only person on board the aircraft, the Pasco County Sheriff's office said at a news conference. The specifics of the crash are still under investigation, which will be handled by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Halladay spent 16 seasons in the majors with the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies before retiring in December 2013 with a 203-105 career won-lost record. In addition to winning both AL and NL Cy Young Awards, he was an eight-time All-Star, tossed a perfect game and, in 2010, threw just the second postseason no-hitter in MLB history.

He is survived by his wife, Brandy, and two sons, Ryan and Braden.
