Rare Air Jordan 1 sample made during MJ's rookie season up for auction
An early prototype of the Air Jordan 1 "Black Toe" colorway has made its way onto eBay.
The one-of-a-kind shoe, which is believed to be from the first batch of Air Jordan 1s made for Michael Jordan during his rookie season, is a size 13.5 and features a factory sticker on the insole displaying the model, color, and date of production, among other details. Jordan debuted the Air Jordan 1 on Nov. 17, 1984 in a home game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Kris Arnold, a former employee of sports management agency ProServ, which represented Jordan, obtained the shoe while working for the company and kept it in storage for over three decades.
The eBay listing is being done through Auction Cause, with 10 percent of the final value going to Best Buddies International, a nonprofit organization that creates opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
