Ex-Tennessee VFL coordinator says bullying, abuse by Vols HC made him quit

Former Tennessee All-American offensive tackle Antone Davis resigned from his position as Vol for Life coordinator earlier this week due to "constant intimidation, bullying, and mental abuse" from Vols head coach Butch Jones, according to an email obtained by Jimmy Hyams of Sports Radio WNML.

The email, sent by Davis to Tennessee athletic director John Currie on Oct. 31, explains Davis' decision to leave his role, with Davis calling the experience working under Jones one of the worst he has ever experienced.

"I want you to know that I am not leaving Tennessee because I want to," Davis said in the email. "I am leaving because I must. My biggest regret and fear is that I am leaving behind student-athletes and co-workers that may be subjected to the same treatment I have received."

Jones issued a statement upon Davis' resignation, wishing him well and thanking him for his work. The same sentiments were shared by Currie in a response to Davis' Oct. 31 email.

In his role as Vol for Life coordinator, Davis' responsibilities included assisting personal growth of student-athletes through life skills, career development and community service, among other factors, according to The Associated Press.
