Wade on Heat's 4th straight Finals appearance: 'I don't know how we made it'

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James had great success when they first teamed up, reaching the NBA Finals in four straight years with the Miami Heat.

But things aren't running as smoothly so far in Cleveland, as the club is off to a surprisingly bad start - sitting at 3-5 and riding a four-game losing skid.

Asked about the Cavaliers' prospects of returning to the Finals for the fourth year in a row, Wade said it won't be easy. That he accomplished the feat once before alongside James came as a shock to him.

"That last year in Miami when we went to the Finals, I don't know how we made it," he told reporters Thursday, referring to the Heat's fourth and final run in 2014.

"As a team, we were kind of like this. It was worse because we weren't new guys, we were guys who'd been around each other for four years in a row. Your jokes weren't funny no more. When you walked in, it wasn't a big smile no more. Guys were just over you. It's like being in a bad marriage.

"But we somehow made it to the Finals, and Indiana should've beat us then. We had a mental edge over those guys so we were able to win, but we shouldn't have been there. It's tough, that's why it hasn't been done a lot."

The Cavs have dropped five games to teams that failed to qualify for the playoffs last season, by an average margin of 15.7 points, and sport the second-worst defensive rating in the league (111.3). They're also trying to piece together a puzzle featuring eight new faces, not to mention injuries to All-Star Isaiah Thomas and now Tristan Thompson, who's expected to be out a month.
