If the season ended today, Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame, and Clemson would occupy the four College Football Playoff spots.

The selection committee revealed its first edition of the top 25 Tuesday evening, with those four programs topping the poll.

"Six wins against teams with a winning record," committee chairman Kirby Hocutt said in his justification of Clemson's inclusion in the top four.

Hocutt also noted that the Tigers, which dropped a decision to Syracuse, have two wins over ranked opponents and three wins over teams in the top 35.

1 Georgia 8-0
2 Alabama 8-0
3 Notre Dame 7-1

Oklahoma and Ohio State, which battled early in the season in a contest that saw the Sooners prevail in Columbus, lead the rest of the contenders.

Wisconsin and Miami, which have yet to lose a game this season, are ranked ninth and 10th, respectively, and suffered from poor strength of schedule.
