Nebraska AD: UCF coach Frost 'has a great resume'

New Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos heaped praise upon UCF coach Scott Frost on Tuesday, fueling rumors he could go to Orlando to find a new leader for the Cornhuskers at the end of the season.

"Well, Scott, of course, has a great resume," Moos said during a radio appearance on 1620 The Zone in Omaha. "He has both coached and played the game on both offense and defense. He has learned from some of the great football minds in the business throughout the years both, again, at the college level and in the professional ranks."

Frost has seen his stock skyrocket this year, as he's led the Knights to a 7-0 record just two years after they posted a winless campaign. UCF owns the nation's No. 1 scoring offense and No. 5 offense overall in 2017, making it one of the most entertaining programs to watch.

"I do know that he did a fabulous job at Oregon, especially as the offensive coordinator with developing a Heisman Trophy winner (Marcus Mariota) there and a team that played for a national championship," Moos continued. "So, he's got the full package.

"The only thing that he was missing back then, in my opinion, was actually being a head college coach and all the other responsibilities and obligations that come with that, and he has handled that superbly, from afar, as I look at it."

Moos also acknowledged Frost's ties to Nebraska. The 42-year-old was born in Wood River, Neb., and played three seasons with the Cornhuskers in the 1990s. He returned to the school as a graduate assistant in 2002.

"Scott is going to coach in a Power 5, and probably sooner than later," Moos added. "And he has paid his dues, and I've been quite impressed with that - having never really met him, but just watching his work from afar."

Nebraska is 4-4 this year under Mike Riley, who's believed to be on the hot seat as the season winds down.
