Roberts says Kershaw 'adamant' about pitching in Game 6

With the World Series on the line, arguably the best starting pitcher in baseball wants another crack at the Houston Astros.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said prior to Game 6 that ace Clayton Kershaw is pushing to make an appearance on Tuesday.

"(He's) adamant he feels good and wants to be available. We'll leave it at that," Roberts told Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. Roberts added that he still prefers to hold Kershaw back to keep him fresh for a potential Game 7.

The 29-year-old started Game 5 and tossed 4 2/3 innings on 94 pitches. He did pitch on one day's rest in last year's NLDS against the Washington Nationals, entering as a reliever in the bottom of the ninth. He faced only two batters in that game, striking out one while earning his first career save on only seven pitches.

Other than Yu Darvish - who would start if the Dodgers live to play another day - and the aforementioned Kershaw, Roberts said it will be all hands on deck for the club's pitchers in Game 6, and that includes right-hander Brandon Morrow.

"I haven't talked to Brandon yet, and once they get out there and start playing catch I'll know more," Roberts told reporters, according to ASAP Sports.

"But I would expect Brandon to be available in this situation, certainly."

Roberts was criticized following the Dodgers' heartbreaking 13-12 loss on Sunday over his decision to go back to Morrow, who's pitched in every World Series game thus far and in 12 1/3 innings throughout the postseason overall.
