Mayfield gets last laugh after torching ex-team for 3rd straight year

He who laughs last, laughs hardest, and (spoiler alert) Baker Mayfield was in a pretty giddy mood Saturday night.

The Oklahoma quarterback faced his former school, Texas Tech, for the third and final time of his career, and, much like he did in the first two meetings, he torched the Red Raiders en route to a sweet victory.

Mayfield has now thrown for 1,038 yards, 14 touchdowns, and two interceptions over three games against the Red Raiders, affording himself a few laughs at the expense of the school that previously denied him a scholarship.

Year Yards TDs INTs CMP

2016 545 7 0 75%
2015 212 2 1 68.2

Mayfield began his career as a walk-on at Texas Tech, starred after winning the starting job as a freshman, and then transferred to Oklahoma after the Red Raiders refused to offer him financial aid at the end of the season.

The feisty pivot has since shared a hostile relationship with Texas Tech, trolling its fans Saturday by arriving in a T-shirt that reminded them of the label they previously bestowed upon him: traitor.
