Embiid insists he's 'not made of glass' after big fall

As James Harden attacked the basket late in the fourth quarter Wednesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers, Joel Embiid skied in to reject his left-handed layup attempt, only to topple over awkwardly and land on the All-Star guard.

Considering Embiid's lengthy injury history, such a fall could have had devastating consequences. He managed to walk away unscathed, however, and the 7-footer doesn't want people to freak out every time he hits the hardwood.

"Everybody gotta stop being scared. I'm not made of glass," he said following Philadelphia's heartbreaking 105-104 loss to the visitors at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Sixers organization continues to take extra precautions with the 23-year-old in an attempt to keep him healthy. Head coach Brett Brown suggested before the season that Embiid's minutes would be in the teens, yet his playing time hasn't fallen below the 24-minute mark in any of the four games he's suited up in.

Embiid spent the first two seasons of his career on the sidelines due to multiple surgeries on his right foot. When he was finally available to play in the 2016-17 campaign, his season was cut short after 31 appearances to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee.

He scored 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, grabbed six boards, and blocked a pair of shots in 24 minutes against Houston. The Sixers fell to 1-4 with the loss.
